Our Story

Bike4Him was started as a God-given vision to blend the sport and recreation of cycling with men's ministry.  During a cold and rainy ride on the Blue Ridge Parkway, the vision became a mission.  John Maxwell says that Jesus teaches us the process for fulfillng a God-given vision in Matthew 9:35 to 10:5.  This process became the basis to develop the Bike4Him vision. 

Bike4Him seeks to become a hub by which people can come together around cycling and other activities to glorify God through fellowship, opportunities for spiritual growth, and service to others.

 

Our logo displays two guiding scriptures that encircle the mission to Bike4Him.

Proverbs 27:17...As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.

God desires a relationship with us, and because we are created in His image, we desire a relationship with others.  When we connect; we encourage one another and lift one another up, strengthen and sharpen one another and build stronger families and communities, and stir one another to love and good deeds to grow God's Kingdom.

1 Corinthians 16:13-14...Be on your guard;  stand firm in the faith;  be men of courage;  be strong.  Do everything in love.

This scripture speaks plainly to men.  We are called to servant leadership and placed by God to shepherd those we influence.  We will be held to account for our stewardship over those we influence and the vision and values God gave us.  Apart from God we can do nothing good, and apart from faith we have no hope.  We can be strong, we can protect and lead, we can proclaim the truth, we can be courageous, but if we do anything without the motivation of love, we do it all in vain.
